Using MapGuide

At the top of the map there is row of buttons, here is a description of what these buttons do...

Zoom In
This command allows you to zoom into a specified point on the map. After starting the command you will be prompted to specify a point in the map. Click to define the new map center, and the map will be re-centered and zoomed into this point.
Zoom Out
This command allows you to zoom out on a specified point on the map. After starting the command you will be prompted to specify a point in the map. Click to define the new map center, and the map will be re-centered on and zoomed out from this point.
Zoom By Area
This command allows you to zoom into a user-defined area. After starting the command, you will be prompted to specify a rectangle in the map to define the new view range. Click on the map to place the first corner of the rectangle, and click again to define the opposite corner. After you have defined the rectangle, the map will zoom into the new range.
Pan
Panning allows you to shift the map in any direction. Left click in the map to define the reference point, then click again to define the destination point. The map will be shifted so that the reference point is moved to the destination point.
Center Map
Use this command to re-center the map by clicking on the new center point in the map
Fit Map
This command refreshes the map at the default view range for the selected map.
Fit Select Set
This command allows you to zoom into a specific area that you selected.
Zoom Previous
The Zoom Previous command lets you return the map view range to the previously saved display extent/scale after you have modified the view using any of the other map zoom commands.
Refresh Map
This command refreshes the map from the server and removes any redlines. The current view range is maintained, and all client-side style changes that have been made are discarded.
Reload Website
This command reloads the website.
Bearing and Distance
Use this command to calculate the bearing and distance of a line. Specify a line in the map view by left-clicking on the first point of the line, then moving the mouse cursor to the end point of the line and left-clicking again. The bearing is calculated from the Y-axis rotating clockwise.
Advanced Bearing and Distance
Use this command to calculate the bearing and distance of a line with more than one segment. Specify the line in the map view by left-clicking on the first point of the line and each successive point, then double-clicking on the last point. The bearing and distance of each segment is displayed on the map if your map format supports redlining. If your map format does not support redlining, a message box is displayed with the bearing and distance info of each line segment. The bearing for each segment is calculated from the Y axis, rotating clockwise.
Measure Distance
Use this command to measure the distance of a polyline. Click on the map to place the first point of the polyline. You should then see dynamic graphics that update as you move the mouse cursor. Click on the map again to place the second point of the line, and so on. Double click to end the line and the total distance will be displayed in a message box. The distance will be displayed in the current distance unit setting (see the Options command help for more information on setting the distance unit).
Measure Area
Use this command to measure the area of a polygon. Click on the map to place the first point of the polygon. You should then see dynamic graphics that update as you move the mouse cursor. Click on the map again to place the second point of the polygon, and so on. Double click to end and the polygon will automatically be closed and the area displayed as shown below.
Pre-defined Queries
The Pre-defined Queries command gives you access to a customized set of queries for locating features. The map you are viewing determines which queries you are allowed to run. In the example shown, there are five queries available: State, States, City, CityPop, and Interstates.
Attribute Query
The Attribute Query command allows you to create new attribute queries on legend entries in the map.
User Queries
The User Queries command gives you access to all user queries created with the Attribute Query command in the current session.
Print
The Print command allows you to print a map at a specified scale.
Help
This command displays the help for the WebMap Publisher website.
