Corruption in the allocations of houses to poor South Africans
The issue of corruption in the allocations of houses to poor South Africans has been in
the media scrutiny for years. The media allege the housing officials of being engaged in
corruption for housing allocations. The MEC for Local Government and Housing Ntate Soviet
Lekganyane during the door to door campaign of antifraud and corruption in Musina on the
10th November 2009 pronounced that plans are afoot to make transition in allocations houses
from housing officials to the Councilors with the aim of curtailing corruption in the allocations of houses.
We would like to get your comments on this perplexing issue, do you think that giving the
councilors responsibilities of identifying people who would benefit from RDP houses will
cap the corruption?
